About Us

As the  owner of Shutes TJS Excavation, Inc. I have spent the last 28 years working on all phases of residential and commercial construction projects.

Since 1997 we have worked on hundreds of site-work projects including:

  • water
  • drainage
  • parking lots
  • home sites
  • buildings
  • barns
  • septic systems

On an average year we:

  • build 4-5 complete homes
  • 20-25 septic system complete installations
  • 50-75 water lines  and/or drainage jobs
  • 8-10 retaining wall projects
  • 10-15 roads or driveways
  • dig 67-70 swimming pools
  • dig 2-3 large ponds

I own and operate all of the equipment to handle any sitework project, big or small.  We have leases on extra equipment to stay on one site for as long as necessary.   We are available anytime.

We now run 2-3 man crews with qualified operators, drivers, and laborers.  We have the experience, equipment and knowledge to get the job done.

We are always growing and as the needs for good crews that have good equipment grows, then so will we. I have general contracted hundreds of jobs over the years and have licensed, insured contractors available immediately for jobs. We also work closely with engineers and architects and personally know many because of working as a team on many jobs over the years.

We work with New York State, Onondaga County, Madison County, Cortland County, and many towns in Central New York on a daily basis.

We have learned over the years that the cheapest contractor is not always the best deal. We try to keep our pricing as competitive as possible, and be able to incurr a profit  to be able to stay in business. And the Shutes Companies have been in business since 1961. We were taught long ago about the importance of doing a good job and honest job at a competitive price. One of our biggest selling points is we are hard-working people earning a living to support our families. And we strive to not only get the job done, but done the best we can. We cut no corners.

Sincerely,
